Well-known Hawaii business man and former newspaper publisher Thurston Twigg-Smith passed away Saturday morning.

He was 94 years old.

Twigg-Smith was the long time publisher of the Honolulu Advertiser.

He was also known as an outspoken critic of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, being against a race-based distribution of taxpayers’ money.

Four years ago, Hawaii Business Magazine named Twigg-Smith as one of the ten wealthiest people in Hawaii.
